Shockwave Therapy
What is shockwave therapy?
A treatment designed to treat overuse and athletic conditions such as arthritis, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, Achilles tendinopathy, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, etc. This treatment increases blood flow, and in turn delivers nutrients and removes waste products from damaged tissue sites.
How does it work?
Sound energy is converted into precise shock waves that penetrate tissues up to an inch deep, making shockwave therapy beneficial in treating the majority of muscle and tendon conditions. Discomfort is expected as the goal is to identify painful areas containing tissue adhesions, “knots”, and scar tissue. Shockwave therapy then releases these adhesions while accelerating local blood circulation to promote collagen remodeling.
When will I see results?
The majority of people will see almost immediate symptom relief after only one session. Best results are seen when patients commit to receiving treatment on a desired area
one time per week for 6-8 weeks. This takes into account the repair and remodeling stages of healing.
